About Us

La Trappiste was established in 2010 by father and son, Andy and Simon Barrett. Every step of the site’s restoration was approached with a real dedication to preserve the cherished history of this listed property, formely occupied by Deakin and Son ‘Gentlemans Outfitters’.

Every morning La Trappiste invites customers with the smell of freshly baked bread, cakes and pastries straight from their ovens. The irresistable aroma of La Trappiste’s freshly roasted coffee beans, which are ground and then brewed into an exceptionally delicious cup of coffee.

La Trappiste buy their meat directly from the farmer and use excellently managed free range beef and lamb. We have carefully selected local farms that have a proved dedication and understanding of their animals and take pride in the quality, texture and flavour of their produce.

The very best quality, locally produced with great taste. Our chosen Beef Farm, family run for 40 years, specialised in a breed called Limousin. This breed produces an exceptional quality of beef, this is reflected in its outstanding flavour. The lamb in our dishes is naturally reared by 10th generation farmer Steve Potter. His current farm was brought by his grandfather in 1924. The lamb is a suffolk cross breed and they graze in the fields with their mothers and the farm cows.

We go to great effort to source the best quality fresh produce, sourced locally where possible.
